Khaled Yacoub is a founding member of Al Falah Academy and has served on the board since its founding. He is currently the chairman of the board. He has been involved in trying to establish an Islamic school in Gwinnett county since 2004.
Khaled holds a degree in Electrical engineering from University of Jordan. He is committed to Islamic education and all of his kids have always attended Islamic schools. He has been working in the IT field for over 25 years and currently works at Kloeckner metals. He has been active with local masajid and has served as a khateeb and volunteer in different capacities.
Yusof Burke is a founding member of Al Falah Academy and has served on the board since its founding. Yusof holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Manhattan College. He is employed by FieldCore Services Inc, a subsidiary of GE Power where he has worked for 30 years as a Power Equipment Field Engineer, Field Services Manager and Project Manager. Yusof is also the Board President of CAIR Georgia.
Akram Muheb is a founding member of Al Falah Academy and has served on the board since 2011. He is passionate about quality Islamic education and has 3 kids that currently attend Al Falah. He graduated from Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. He currently works with General Motors in the IT field.
Jean Manzoor serves as Treasurer of the Board and has been a board member of Al Falah Academy since 2013. Prior to that she was Treasurer of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), an organization she helped to create at Al Falah. Jean holds a degree in Accounting from Babson College, an MBA from the Citadel, and professional certifications of Certified Management Accountant and Certified in Strategy and Competitive Analysis. She is employed by Kingspan Insulation as Finance Director and sits on the board of Kingspan Insulation North America. She also serves on the board of two other non-profit organizations.
Shameem Jabbar has a medical degree from India and a master’s degree from Georgia State University. She has two kids ( 11th and 8th) at Al Falah Academy. She has been with the “Al Falah Academy PTO” since its inception in 2012. She believes “knowledge” is vast, and goes well beyond the four walls of the classroom. Her passion lies in ensuring that children who graduate from Al Falah do not restrict themselves to an external Muslim identity but also have true internal beauty (Ihsan). She is currently working as a scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Hayat Yusuf has been a parent with Al Falah for 6 years. She has 4 children at the school and she started volunteering with the PTO before joining for the board in 2016. She has a Generalist role on the board, covering anything from Marketing, Sourcing, to HR. During the day, she leads Marketing Operations for Serta Simmons Bedding–the largest mattress manufacturer in the US. She has an undergrad in Business Administration and Computer Science and a master’s in International Business with a minor in HR. Some weeks, she is devoting more hours to AFA-related projects than to other activities. One thing is for sure, her mission is to ensure that this community has an educational institution like AFA, highly regarded for its Islamic Foundation, Academic Ingenuity, and Cultural Morality.
Haris Khan is an IT professional with passion for serving in non-profit organizations. He has been part of the Al Falah family for the past 5 years. With 3 children attending AFA, Br Haris has served in PTO in multiple positions including the President. He holds a bachelor’s degree in risk management and has attained a master’s degree in management information system and Project Management. He has been serving with Gwinnett County Outreach Program and worked with city officials in multiple areas such as Gwinnett Health Department and Gwinnett Courts. As a board member, Br Haris looks to improve AFA’s operations and enhance after school enrichment programs for students. He is also very interested in improving teaching experience and fostering an environment where everyone can grow.
Sirad Ahmed is an Al Falah Academy parent and is enthusiastic about the school’s mission. A long-time resident of Atlanta, Sirad holds an MBA from Clark Atlanta University. She has vast experience in the financial services sector. Sirad is passionate about childhood education and advocates for addressing the increasingly divergent needs of students while providing them with challenging and engaging opportunities to learn, both in the classroom and in the surrounding community.
Varough Deyde is a parent at Al Falah Academy. He has two daughters: one attending AFA, and one former AFA student, currently in college Varough volunteered to support the noble efforts of many who want to see a thriving and successful Muslim community and youth in GA. He believes all children deserve and should have the opportunity to learn the Deen and that it is an obligation upon all Muslims in the area to support the creation, expansion and maintenance of Islamic spaces and institutions such as AFA. He is currently a senior Advisor with CDC’s Division of Global HIV and Tuberculosis. Before that, he was CDC’s first Caribbean Regional Office Director based in Jamaica.
Varough holds a bachelor’s degree in natural sciences from the University of Nouakchott, Mauritania, a master’s degrees in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the University of Sciences and Medicine in Tunis, Tunisia, and a doctorate in Cellular and Molecular Biology/Virology from the University of Nevada, Reno, USA. He is also trained and certified from the “Institute des Relations Internationales” in Tunis-Tunisia, 1999.
Nazmus Sakib was born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He moved to Connecticut in his late teens and relocated to the Georgia in 2017. He has two kids attending Al Falah currently and has been a part of the AFA PTO for several years.
Professionally, he serves as a Director of Private Markets for a Fintech company which is the world’s largest hedge fund and private equity administrator. He has been in the industry for 17+ years working for various companies including Big-4 accounting firm. He has also volunteered at various leadership roles within non-profit space over the last 15+ years including serving on the Executive Board as a Treasurer for an Islamic Center in CT. He currently attends/volunteers at his local mosque (Masjid Omar) in Lilburn and a few other community based initiatives. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Certificate in MIS from University of Connecticut. He also completed Executive Education in Finance from Harvard University. He is also pursuing Islamic education under the tutelage of Shuyookhs.
In his spare time, he loves travelling and spending time with his parents, wife and three kids. He looks forward to serving on the AFA Board by safeguarding this precious ‘amanah’ from Allah (swt) and upholding the values of Quran and Sunnah.
